Optimizing Embedded Systems for Global Performance

To support the ongoing evolution of its products, a European manufacturer of professional espresso machines engaged intive to enhance key areas of its embedded platform. The machines are used every day in restaurants, hotels, and cafés across many countries, so the embedded software had to work smoothly in every region and every language. At the same time, some hardware modules had become a source of friction: they made maintenance harder and caused avoidable inefficiencies for the people running the machines. The client wanted to fix both issues without compromising the quality its brand is known for.

From Interface to Hardware:
A Complete Upgrade

intive worked closely with the client so every change fit the brand and the product vision. To make everyday interactions clearer and more intuitive, the team built new views for the machines' displays using QML, Qt, and C++. intive also streamlined the localization modules, making the machines easier to adapt for new markets and more accessible worldwide.

Alongside this, the engineers refactored the embedded systems, improving how they work and making the codebase easier to maintain and extend. 

The project also included improvements to selected hardware-related components, enhancing usability, maintainability, and day-to-day operation.
